This position must identify and respond to emerging trends in employee engagement, and assess and coordinate efforts on behalf of the Student Union to ensure that we are considered an employee of choice. In addition to this, this position will also assess emerging trends in student engagement and leadership development, and build the capacity and partnerships of the SSU with College and external parties to ensure that Sheridan College continues to support a thriving and active student community. 

Qualifications 
  • College or University certificate/diploma in related field, or related experience

  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong leadership, communication and management skills

  • Proficient PC skills with MS Office and Windows

  • Full time access to a vehicle is necessary

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Diplomacy, tact and a commitment to confidentiality

Human Resources Generalist

Davis Campus (Brampton) and other campuses if required

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for overseeing most human resources functions of the Sheridan Student Union. Working closely with the Managers and student employees the incumbent must ensure that the HR practices and policies of the SSUI are in compliance with current governing legislation, are representative of industry best practices and are properly communicated to all full and part-time SSUI staff. 

Qualifications 
  • Diploma or University Degree

  • Minimum 3 years in an HR role

  • Professional work ethic, exercising of good judgment, tact and initiative; and ensures

    confidentiality

  • Ability to work under pressure and successfully meet deadlines;

  • Easily adapting to changing priorities (flexibility is essential);

  • Working both independently and cooperatively as part of a team;

  • Ability to think strategically, formulate and execute plans to meet the organizational goals

  • Proven attention to detail in a consistently accurate, fast and efficient manner;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication;

  • Experience managing budgets

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Experience working with the Dayforce / Ceridian system is an asset

Assistant Services Manager

All three campuses - TRC, Davis, HMC

 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This position leads and coordinates Customer Service Representatives (CSR) support of the Sheridan student body. In addition the Assistant Manager, Services will oversee daily execution and improvements of some of the SU Services with feedback and leadership from the Services Manager. 

The Assistant Manager, Services holds a number of responsibilities and duties that may be modified from time to time. The successful candidate will be outgoing and positive, team oriented, confident, enthusiastic and approachable. It is important that the candidate be flexible, and recognize that the position itself will change and adapt over time to effectively address emerging trends and challenges within the division

Programming Assistant

Brampton and Mississauga (occasionally at Oakville)

This position assists the Programming Manager in managing the event / production teams and in the development and execution of Sheridan Student Union events and programs. This position will also liaise with Team Leads and Event Coordinators to maximize student engagement in events and Student Union initiatives. This position will manage event teams, assist in event planning and will introduce initiatives that reflect current trends of campus life. This position will also research all risks and liabilities so that we may run successful and responsible campus events. 

Qualifications 

  • College or University certificate/diploma in related field, or related experience

  • Required to travel and to work outside of normal business hours

  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong leadership, communication and management skills

  • Proficient PC skills with MS Office and Windows

  • Experience with Audio Video equipment set up and use

  • Full time access to a vehicle is necessary.
